Snow two days in a row is essentially unheard of for the middle of Tucson. The heat island effect pushes stored warmth out of our sidewalks, buildings, and roads during the night to make this impossible normally. But we got it! Snow! #tucson
These lasted about two weeks in the fridge before I decided: eff it, they’re getting grown again. #invincible #onion
Hey everybody! It’s cooler out so I’m cooking again. After a farmers market, I decided to try a third time to ferment some cucumbers. And to do that, I grabbed these @goferment lids. They might FINALLY help me to master fermentation. Updates to come. Check them out if you haven’t, these were a gift to me from my mother. Keep them in mind for Holidays 2018®️! #goferment #fermentation #pickles
Figured it was time to just pick these 2 year old spring onions. The bulbous bottoms should be good in spaghetti, and I’ll decide on the scapes. Only got the one good scape, it was 108F today, 6% humidity. Some garden God is keeping these kohlrabi (bottom right) from bolting. The same God is keeping them from bulbing up too. (I know it’s my choice of soil, position in the yard, sowing date, etc., but it’s not as fun to blame other mortals.) #blamegame #onions #springonion #onionscapes #onion
Some of these garlic bulbs didn’t grow enough. Planted too close, probably still attached to the same base but the papers didn’t hold them together. So they’ll be dried and saved for next year (harvested this August and replanted this October 2018). From the size of their stems, there are still two good sized garlic bulbs that can be harvested in a few months. #therearenoscrewups #maybesome #futureharvest #bulbsaving #garlic
Kohlrabi! It’s a small variety -this is as big as they get- but I was looking for color. Next year, size matters. #youknowimhashtagging #sizematters
Really? Red on red? #phototakingchampion But seriously, I can’t believe how well these have done! They are pledged to friends once dry. Take this as a reminder to share your harvest! With your mom. Everyday, not just Mother’s Day.
Lighting is terrible, check. Palo Verde flower corpses everywhere, check. Strange looking outlines of leaves at the top right, check. Seems like the right balance of ripe, delicious peppers and awful photography. Thank you for following me for whatever reason! #wrongdecisionsthatfeelohsoright
