Woops, I missed a holiday. Starbucks Pre-Christmas?

I was so wrapped up in the snow I could be starbucks-red-cup-600x800getting for Christmas, that I forgot about Thanksgiving. Starbucks customers are doing the same thing over this red cup. After using one recently, and feeling festive for it, there will be no sympathy coming from me. Continue reading Woops, I missed a holiday. Starbucks Pre-Christmas?

I’m getting snow for Christmas*

Or at least that is what is being said of this El Niño season. We will get more winter storms dumping rain in late winter, January and February (maybe California snowpack will bounce back!). Continue reading I’m getting snow for Christmas*

I’m here to point out that Wenk’s hot peppers are the most prolific I’ve seen for the size of the pepper.. 18 days ago this bush was empty and only had flowers. Now there’s a whole new crop!! I’ll be drying these and giving them away! Also are garlic shoots the most beautiful thing you’ve seen in your life? Drop by my site (in bio) for recipes that will help you preserve your last harvest of the season. Or just season up your warm dishes. #garlic #mostbeautiful #ohyeahthispostisaboutpeppers #peppers #hotpeppersactually #wenkshotpeppers #garlicplant #andwereback #garden #whatsinmygarden #dirtpotplanterbeds #dirtpot #planterbag
Happy National Pickle Day!! Just a reminder, there are a few delicious pickle recipes on my blog, including garlic dills, pickled zucchini, soon-to-be pickled jalapeno, and a bunch of advice on washing produce, and choosing the best ingredients to get that CRUNCH! #nationalpickleday #pickles #pickling #cucumbers #cucumber #garden #growwhatyoueat #eatwhatyougrow #jalapenos #pickledzucchini #recipes #cooking #howtopickle #preserving
What kind of vampire bites a leaf? This isn’t a joke, who did this?? #garden #seedling #radish #vampireswereoutlastnight
This “rando-mix” comes from the tub-trug I keep all my seeds and tools in. It’s a blend of (I think) daikon and red radishes, a few dill seeds, and one or two surprises. Stay tuned. #feelingadventurous
Fall means my pictures get shadows all in them. I’m excited for these Wenk’s hot peppers, they’re excellent in pickles and pickled! A few jalapeños on the way too since the heat ironically went away. It was a weird season, got a late start because of work, unproductive too (except for basil). More on my work soon. #badgardenphotography #pepper #hotpepper #wenks #wenkshotpepper #garden #fallgarden
Trying out I’itoi onions this year! Something tells me I’ll be begging people to take them. Can someone confirm that? #iitoi #onions #greenonion This experience will be a blog post sometime next summer.
This is the perfect time to plant garlic! In every bulb of it, there are teeny tiny cloves at the center that are too tiny for me to do anything with. So here’s what I do. Don’t break them off that disk thing, plant it! Trim off the excess disk so it doesn’t rot them all. When it’s time to harvest, they will have broken apart into separate plants, each if them a starter garlic bulb! What you see above is what you get from the center of one clove! Let them sit somewhere dry and warm, out of direct sunlight. Plant next to all the rest of your individual cloves next year! Enjoy this revolving-door approach to garlic!!! A few of my articles are hits this week, so I thought I’d share the beginning of it here. Planting seeds might seem intimidating, but doing this will actually give you healthier plants that produce more! For why that is and for a few other reasons why, be sure to check out the rest of the article (link in bio)!!! #bettergardens #eatwhatyougrow #sustainyourself
